Small-Group Application Questions
- Before now, what has been the primary content of your speech with your child/children?
- Where has your parenting been more about discipline than discipleship in knowing God?
- John Calvin wrote, “no man can survey himself without forthwith turning his thoughts towards the God in whom he lives and moves…” How should this fact affect the way you talk with your child?
- Paul Tripp said “the most powerful thing that you can do for your child is to build in him very earl this inescapable ‘God-awareness’.” How can you build this God-awareness into your child?
- Role-play/practice moving from the mundane moments of life to God with your spouse or another parent.
- What are some things that distract your own child/children from an awareness of God?
- What are some things that you need to change in your own life to create opportunities to build more of a God-awareness into your child/children? (job/role, hobbies, how much time you spend on the computer, watching TV, etc.)
- How can you better get to know what makes your child tick?
- How can you grow and help your child grow in seeing our need for Jesus as our Redeemer?
